Tasting

There is a tremendous range of olive oils. Recognising the differences is a question of the correct tasting procedure. If you taste olive oil in the manner described below, you will experience all the fragrances and flavours.

Pour some olive oil onto a spoon. Then pour this oil into a small glass. Warm the glass in your hands. This releases the aromas from the oil. Take a few deep breaths and take the time to observe the colour of the oil. Inhale the perfumes, take a sip and allow the oil to roll around the mouth. This activates the taste buds and is the best way for you to taste the oil. It is easier for beginners to use a piece of bread in tasting. This makes tasting more physical and tangible.
